The FINANCIAL -- This year, the USB arranged three study tours to the UK, Germany and Japan where MBA students could gain first-hand insight from the head offices of global companies like Toyota, Canon, Skype and Nokia.
According to Hennie Oliver, USB's head: International Affairs, the school has been offering international MBA study tours for the past 10 years but this was the first time that MBA students could choose from three different destinations.
A group of 25 students went to WHU Beisheim School of Management in Germany and Lancaster University Management School in the UK.
A group of 18 students went to the Estonian Business School in Estonia, and the Hanken School of Economics in Finland.
A group of 6 students went to the Nagoya University of Commerce and Business in Japan which included a half-day visit to Hong Kong.
Some of the student comments were, "The visit to the European Central Bank was by far the most significant part of the tour. I learned more in those two hours about the world economy than I could have ever hoped for."
"The company visits to Skype and Nokia were the highlight of my tour - especially Skype was an eye opener."
"The highlight of the programme was the company visits to Toyota, Menicon and Canon."
