Nike and the Argentine Rugby Union (UAR) have unveiled the jersey that the Pumas will wear this Saturday when they play the Springboks in their rugby championship debut. The reveal took place at the Vineyard Hotel in Cape Town, South Africa, with the participation of The Pumas, UAR officials and Nike executives.

The new Nike jersey highlights the core values associated with the Pumas team: nationalism, teamwork and pride. The design finds inspiration in the national colors of Argentina and the historic heritage of the team, and features all-new performance technology. On the back, the iconic sun of the Argentine flag symbolizes the team's patriotism.

The new jersey uses Nike's most advanced technology specifically applied to rugby, a first for the Argentinean kit. Nike Dri-FIT technology allows the players to stay dry and comfortable longer. A silicone strap on the inside of the lower area prevents the jersey from bunching up at the waist, allowing the player to focus on the game.

"Nike is proud to be part of this new phase that places the Pumas among the international rugby elite, and we're confident of this multi-talented team's potential, with players who stand out in the major international tournaments," says Adrián Cueto, Nike Marketing Manager for the Southern Cone.

"For the UAR and Argentine rugby in general, the agreement with Nike is a huge step forward. To compete with the world's best teams we must be prepared and equipped with the best technology, and without a doubt Nike will deliver this," adds Luis Castillo, UAR President.

Nike announced its sponsorship in March, signing an agreement with the Argentine Rugby Union (UAR) to become the sports sponsor of Pumas, Pampas XV, Jaguares, Pumas Seven and Pumitas. Nike followed the announcement by presenting a new uniform for the Pampas XV, the team representing young Argentine talent. As Nike reported, the new kit reflects the team's brave and strong identity both locally and internationally.
