The FINANCIAL -- PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) has been named as "Top Company for Working Families" by DiversityInc, publisher of the annual DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity ranking.

The award recognizes PwC for its consistent leadership in diversity and inclusion practices, as well as its continued commitment to work/life flexibility, support for working parents and corporate responsibility.

Dennis Nally, Global Chairman of PricewaterhouseCoopers, accepted the award during a DiversityInc event, “How Leadership Expresses Diversity Commitment,” held this week at the New York Marriott Marquis.

Explaining why PwC was selected as best-in-class for working families, Luke Visconti, CEO of DiversityInc, said:  “For the past decade, PricewaterhouseCoopers has led the nation—and the world—in its progressive work/life programs, especially those that support working parents.  PwC has been at the forefront of creating an environment where individuals can excel on all fronts.”

"At a time when many companies are reducing or eliminating programs, PwC continues to offer or expand numerous initiatives and benefits that enable its people to balance their work and personal lives.  They range from longstanding benefits such as generous parental leave policies and flexible work arrangements to newer offerings such as 10 paid hours per year to devote to community service and Full Circle, an innovative program that allows professionals—both women and men—to take up to five years away from the firm to devote themselves to full-time parenting (or other dependent care) and then rejoin the firm," PricewaterhouseCoopers reported.

Earlier this year, PwC was ranked #5 on The 2009 DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity list.  It was the firm's second consecutive appearance in the top five and the fifth time overall on the list.  PwC was also ranked #1 in The DiversityInc Top 10 Global Diversity Companies and #3 in the Top 10 Companies for LGBT employees for the second and third consecutive years, respectively.

“Leading companies continue to invest in people, even in a down economy,” said Niloufar Molavi, partner and Chief Diversity Officer for the U.S. firm of PricewaterhouseCoopers. “Differences matter when bringing people together in the market and focusing on clients.  Organizations cannot function effectively in a global marketplace without diverse talent.  We've taken a longer, opportunistic view by continuing to make diversity a priority even in these challenging times.”

PwC has achieved a lengthy list of distinctions for its commitment to people, diversity and inclusiveness.  The firm has beenranked as one of FORTUNE's “100 Best Companies to Work For” for five consecutive years.  In 2007, the firm won the Catalyst Award for its efforts to advance and retain women.  Last Spring, PwC received the Point Inspiration Award for demonstrated leadership in diversity and support of the LGBT community from Point Foundation, the largest merit scholarship-granting organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) students.
