Azerbaijan and Turkey Lead the List of Georgia's Trade Partners

The FINANCIAL -- External Merchandise Trade (excluding non-organized trade) of Georgia amounted to USD 4866 million in January-June 2012, up 17 percent from the same period of the previous year, according to National Statistics Office of Georgia.

 

Compared to January-June 2011, the volume of export grew by 10 percent and reached USD 1140 million, while import increased by 19 percent amounting to USD 3725 million.

 

The trade deficit reached USD 2585 million and amounted to 53 percent of the total trade turnover, according to Geostat.

 

“In January 2012 Export from Georgia totaled USD 156 827 100. In February - USD 150 511 800, March - USD 231 412 100, April - USD 187 737 800, May - USD 234 711 800 and in June 179 292 700 while Import in January totaled USD 500 850 800,  February - USD 556 678 200, March - USD 667 474 900, April - USD 691 528 800, May - USD 680 406 900 and in June USD 628 497 500.

 

Total exports of top trading partners in January-June 2012 amounted to USD 1 140 493 300 while in the same period last year the number was USD 1 037 034 800, less by USD 1 034 585.

 

“Top trading partner by export in January-June 2012 was Azerbaijan with USD 283 226 500 while in the same period last year the number was USD 154 473 700. Export to Armenia totaled USD 110 808 100 for January-June this year while last year during the same period it totaled USD 106 902 500. Export to United States in January-June 2011 totaled USD 76 517 500 and in 2012, USD 103 192 100. Amount of export in Turkey totaled USD 114 915 400 in 2011 and in 2012 the number was USD 84 603 800,”.

 

Export to Ukraine in 2011 totaled USD 60 458 500 in 2011 while for January-June 2012 the number of export to Ukraine amounted USD 83 242 900.

 

“Total imports of trading partners in January-June 2012 amounted to USD 3 725 437 000. Top trading partner for Georgia by imports was Turkey in January-June 2011 with USD 555 525 200 while for the same period of 2012 with USD 656 592 000. The index of Turkey this year is USD 101 066 800 more in accordance with the same period last year,”

 

“Azerbaijan imported USD 287 615 300 to Georgia in January- June 2011 while the number of import totaled USD 322 567 100 the same period of 2012.  Germany is the number 3rd among top trading partners of Georgia by import.  For January-June 2011 the number of import from Germany amounted USD 200 536 800 while during the same period this year the number totals USD 299 551 100,” 

 

In January-June 2012 imports from China totaled USD 285 724 400, from Ukraine USD 257 753 500, from Russia USD 195 170 300, from japan 143 414 700, from Bulgaria USD 122 492 400, United States USD 119 441 900 and from Italy USD 113 858 300.

 

Major commodity positions in export belongs to Motor cars ( USD 260 913 600) , USD 119 895 100 Ferro-alloys, USD 65 749 600 Mineral or chemical fertilizers, nitrogenous,  USD 54 416 100 Nuts, fresh or dried, USD39 677 300 ethyl alcohol, spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages, USD 38 322 100 Copper ores and concentrates, USD 36 018 600 Gold unwrought or in semi-manufactured forms,  USD 35 302 400 Ferrous waste and scrap, USD  30 436 300 Waters, including natural or artificial mineral waters and USD 25 561 200 wine of fresh grapes.

 

“Major commodity positions by import totaled USD 3 725 437 000 for January-June 2012. Imported petroleum and petroleum oils during January-June 2012 amounted to USD 437 368 600, motor cars USD 331 164 000, petroleum gases and other gaseous USD 145 725 200, medicaments USD 105 675 600, Wheat USD 84 059 200, electrical transformers USD 59  958 800, telephones for cellular networks or for other wireless networks USD 52 449 100, automatic data processing machines USD  49 464 500, structures and parts of structures USD 47 996 500, Cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes USD 39 046 500,”.

 

Export from EU countries amounted USD 198 835 000 while import totaled USD 1 168 504 200. From CIS countries export totals USD 559 910 400 and import USD 927 991 500. Export from other countries from January-June 2012 was USD 381 747 800 and import amounted USD 1 628 941 300.
