The FINANCIAL -- The Belgian National Bank has approved the acquisition of Mensura’s insurance activities by Allianz Belgium.

According to Allianz, the effective date of this transaction is the August 1, 2012. After the approval of the General Assembly of Mensura CCA on July 13th this is the final step for the formal acquisition by Allianz. As a consequence, Allianz Belgium will be able to complete its range of products with the worker’s accident insurance for self-employed, SMEs and larger companies, enabling it to provide full service to brokers and clients of Allianz Belgium. Furthermore, with this acquisition the policyholders of Mensura would enjoy the stability of a world leader in insurance.

This acquisition confirms our ambition to be a leading player in the commercial business segment and to strengthen the position of Allianz Belgium in function of its preferred distribution channel: the insurance brokerage,” declared Robert Franssen, CEO of Allianz Belgium.

Jean-Claude Debussche, CEO of Mensura, is welcoming towards the acquisition also: “This operation is in line with the strong ties our two companies share. They have been working together on a commercial basis for several years now in the field of worker’s accident insurance. Entering the Allianz Group will guarantee Mensura’s worker’s accident insurance activities’ durability.”
