The FINANCIAL -- The International Trade Commission said Apple Inc.'s mobile
devices don't violate an HTC patent for power
management, marking another loss for the Taiwanese company in a series
of patent conflicts that have caught up many handset makers.
The ITC said on Friday that Apple's products hadn't violated HTC's patent for switching various parts of a device off depending on how much power it has.
According to London Stock Exchange, Apple declined to comment.
The case, which HTC filed with the commission roughly eight months ago, is one of a series of legal battles between the two tech titans. For example, HTC still has a pending suit against Apple over technology for upgrading software and loading application using patents it acquired from Google.
So far, HTC has a mixed record in its struggle against Apple. The company previously lost a complaint in which it said Apple's devices violated a patents held by S3 Graphics, a firm HTC purchased with the intent of using their intellectual-property portfolio in lawsuits. Meanwhile, the ITC found in December that HTC had infringed an Apple patent for detecting useful data, such as a phone number in an email.
