Borsa Italiana reaches 800 listed instruments on ETFplus

The FINANCIAL -- More than 800 Exchange Traded Products (ETPs) are now listed on ETFplus, Borsa Italiana’s dedicated market for the trading of ETFs, ETCs and ETNs. The important milestone was reached as two new ETFs were listed on the market.

In the year of the 10th anniversary of the first ETF to be listed on the Italian market, ETFplus continues to grow, confirming its status as an international centre for the trading of ETFs.

The increasing number of instruments on the ETFplus market offers investors access to a wide range of products and a transparent and liquid market. The product range now available includes 196 developed market ETFs, 96 emerging market ETFs, 126 bond ETFs, 31 Style ETFs, 168 asset class ETFs and 172 ETCs and 12 ETNs on foreign currency, from 11 separate issuers.

As Borsa Italiana - London Stock Exchange Group reported, since 2005, Borsa Italiana has been the leader for the number of traded contracts on ETFs on an electronic platform. In the first ten months of 2012, ETFplus has seen an average of 11,311 daily contracts traded.

Pietro Poletto, Head of Fixed Income Markets of London Stock Exchange Group, said: “When we look at Exchange Traded Products over the last ten years we see a fantastic story of growth and diversification, attracting both institutional and private investors. This milestone of reaching 800 listed instruments confirms the wide range of products available on ETFplus and the central role of Borsa Italiana in developing this market at an international level”.
