The FINANCIAL -- Wednesday's session closed with the NASDAQ Composite Index at 3,245.12. The total shares traded for the NASDAQ was over 1.54 billion.

Advancers stocks led declining by 1.26 to 1 ratio. There were 1370 advancers and 1089 decliners for the day. On the NASDAQ Stock Exchange 81 stocks reached a 52 week high and 11 those reaching lows totaled. The most active, advancers, decliners, unusual volume and most active by dollar volume can be monitored intraday on the Most Active Stocks page.

The NASDAQ 100 index closed down -.08% for the day; a total of -2.13 points. The current value is 2,798.68. eBay Inc. ( EBAY ) had the largest percent change down (-3.74%) while Staples, Inc. ( SPLS ) had the largest percent change gain rising 4.3%.

As The NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc. said, the Dow Jones index closed up .04% for the day; a total of 5.22 points. The current value is 14,455.28. Merck & Company, Inc. ( MRK ) had the largest percent change down (-1%) while International Business Machines Corporation ( IBM ) had the largest percent change gain rising .72%.
