U.S. Ambassador Richard Norland's Visit in Zugdidi

The FINANCIAL -- Ambassador Richard Norland traveled to Zugdidi on October 25 to survey the pre-election situation as part of the U.S. Embassy’s election observation mission, according to the US Embassy in Georgia.



The United States is committed to supporting free and fair elections in Georgia that will consolidate democratic gains and bring Georgia closer to achieving its Euro-Atlantic aspirations.  Since 2008, the U.S. Government has provided $120 million of assistance intended to strengthen Georgian democracy, governance and the rule of law.  The United States does not support any political party or candidate.  The U.S. focus and support is on the process and on Georgia’s efforts to build democratic institutions.

“The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia”: presidential election and early parliamentary elections

The FINANCIAL -- A 14-member delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), led by Stefan Schennach (Austria, SOC), will travel to “the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia” from 25 to 28 April to observe the conduct of the presidential election (2nd round) and the early parliamentary elections, alongside observers from the OSCE’s Parliamentary Assembly and Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), according to PACE.
