Russia Says to Detain Ships ‘Violating Abkhaz Border’

The FINANCIAL -- According to Civil Georgia, Russian coast guard will detain ships “violating Abkhazia’s maritime borders,” Victor Trufanov, commander of Russia’s coast guard at the Federal Security Service, said on September 15, RIA Novosti and Itar-Tass reported.

He said the measure would be enforced in line with bilateral agreement between Russia and Abkhazia on border protection cooperation.

 

“If there are cases of violation of border, we will detain ships and take relevant measures,” Itar-Tass reported quoting Trufanov.
