The FINANCIAL -- National Parliamentary Library of Georgia, Building III 02:00 pm. The United Nations Resident Coordinator on behalf of the UN Development Programme, UN Women, and United Nations Population Fund will host the launch of the UN Joint Programme to Enhance Gender Equality in Georgia funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency.
To mark the International Women’s Day and the launch of the UN Joint Programme, a special exhibition - “The Woman’s Question on the Verge of the 19th-20th Centuries in Georgia” will be opened. The aim of the event is to inform the key partners in the Government and civil society as well as the media on the priorities of the UN Joint Programme to Enhance Gender Equality in Georgia. It further seeks to deliver the message to the society that the debate around the “Woman’s Question”, which in fact was related to achieving gender equality has been relevant to the Georgian society in the past and that it is still relevant today.
The exhibition will show the faces, life stories, and writings of publicly active women and men who cared for women’s emancipation and empowerment in the nineteenth and the beginning of twentieth centuries.
