Ministry of Culture and Monuments Protection Supported by UN Women Open a Script Writers Competition

The FINANCIAL -- March 15, 2012; 12:00 pm, Marjanishvili State Drama Theatre – The United Nations Resident Coordinator, Deputy Minister of Culture and Monuments Protection of Georgia and General Manager of the Marjanishvili State Drama Theatre will host a press conference to officially open a script writers’ competition for the best script of a drama play on domestic violence.

With this special initiative, the Marjanishvili State Drama Theatre and UN Women aim to raise awareness of the problem of violence against women and in particular domestic violence among the general public promoting public discussion on these topics and thus encouraging attitudinal changes in the society in a longer run.

 

The Marjanishvili State Drama Theatre supported by UN Women will stage the winner script in the frameworks of the UN Joint Programme to Enhance Gender Equality in Georgia with the generous funding by Sida.

 

The official speakers of the press conference are: H.E. Mr. Jamie McGoldrick , UN Resident Coordinator; Mr. David Tskhadadze, Deputy Minister of Culture and Monuments Protection of Georgia; Ms. Ekaterina Mazmishvili, General Manager of the Marjanishvili State Drama Theatre; Mr. Lasha Bugadze, Dramaturge.
