The "Cabletren Bolivariano" cable liner shuttle will make a big contribution to developing the city of Caracas. As part of the Metro de Caracas mass transit system, the automated people mover (APM) will link the existing Petare metro station to the newly planned Waraira Repano A station. The new, two-kilometer line will be served by four four-car trains and will be able to Siemens equips cable liner shuttle for metro line in Caracas carry up to 3,500 passengers per hour. The IS business unit for cable-drawn automatic people mover systems has its headquarters in Innsbruck, Austria. It is supplying the drive systems, the complete power engineering and the central automatic train control system, as well as handling engineering.

The fully automated, cable-drawn cable liner has been jointly developed by Siemens and DCC Doppelmayr Cable Car GmbH & Co. Unlike a self-propelled system, in which the drive is located in the vehicle, the advantage of a cable-drawn system is that vehicles can be drawn back into a station by a stand-by drive if there is a power outage or system breakdown. Other benefits of the cable liner are that it is quiet and produces no emissions.
