"Vimpelcom [Beeline parent company] will launch iPhone 4...in Russia within the next few months," the company announced.

Russia's leading mobile operator MTS also expressed interest in selling the device on the Russian market.

"We have indicated our interest in Apple and will monitor their plans for supplying the Russian market," the company said.

Russia's third largest mobile phone operator Megafon said it is "open" for cooperation with Apple.

At 9.3 mm the iPhone 4 is 25 percent thinner than its predecessors and the thinnest smartphone on the market. The gizmo also boasts a state of the art battery, with seven hours of talk time and 300 hours of standby.
