Vienna Insurance Group in Poland

The FINANCIAL -- During the first nine months of the current year, the group companies of the Vienna Insurance Group in Poland were able to further expand their position in one of the largest Central and Eastern European markets. With unconsolidated written premiums of approximately PLN 2.09 billion (approx. EUR 609,67million), they grew by almost 40 percent compared to the same period in the previous year.

“These numbers show that the Vienna Insurance Group in Poland is continuing its impressive growth, despite the looming economic downturn", comments a pleased Günter Geyer, CEO of the Vienna Insurance Group. “With this excellent result in Poland we are sustaining our upward trend by which we improved our market position from eight to fourth place over the course of only two years.”


In the non-life insurance segment, the Vienna Insurance Group in Poland achieved written premiums of PLN 1.11 billion (approx. EUR 324,61million), which represents growth of more than 20 percent compared to the previous year.


In the life insurance segment, Polish group companies registered growth rates of approximately 70 percent, with written premiums of PLN 977.05 million (approx. EUR 285,06 million).


Vienna Insurance Group's representation in Poland already includes a total of eight companies, such as Compensa Non-Life and Life, the non-life insurers InterRisk and TU PZM, Benefia Non-Life and Life and the life insurance companies Royal Polska and FinLife. Together they rank in fourth place in the Polish insurance market.

 

The listed Vienna Insurance Group is one of the leading insurance groups in CEE headquartered in Vienna. Outside of its home base in Austria, Vienna Insurance Group is also active, through subsidiaries and insurance holdings, in Albania, Bulgaria, Germany, Estonia, Georgia, Croatia, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Turkey, Hungary, Ukraine and Belarus. It also has branches in Italy and Slovenia.


On the Austrian market, the group positions itself with Wiener Städtische Versicherung, Donau Versicherung and Sparkassen Versicherung. Furthermore, it has a minority holding in Wüstenrot Versicherung.
