The FINANCIAL -- Walsall Road Medical Practice is investing over £5.9 million to create a new primary care centre supported by Barclays.

The purpose-built centre will see the amalgamation of three practices under one roof and will incorporate a pharmacy and a range of other healthcare services. As Barclays said, the development will be completed by January 2014.

Dr Sirjit Bath from Tower Hill Medical Centre said: “The new centre will see an integration of the practices in order to meet the growing needs of the local community, creating a “one stop” primary care facility for the people of Great Barr and the surrounding area. Our new facility is situated in a more convenient location and will have sufficient accommodation to house other healthcare providers including a pharmacy and district nurses as well as other services which in some cases will mean that local people can see specialists without having to go to the hospital. In addition we will be extending our opening hours resulting in more appointments being available for our patients.”

Julian Kilsby, Barclays Relationship Director said: “Barclays has supported a number of GP schemes across the region recently, demonstrating our appetite within the healthcare sector to support projects which bring real benefits to the local community and local economy. Barclays is committed to using our industry expertise and specialists to support such propositions, which enable customers such as Walsall Road Medical Practice to expand and invest, for future prosperity.”
