The FINANCIAL -- Deutsche Bank announced on August 18that it has established an Asian equity strategy team with Ajay Kapur appointed as a Managing Director and Head of Asian Equity Strategy.

Mr Kapur is based in Hong Kong and reports locally to Guy Ashton, Global Head of Company Research.

Joining Mr Kapur are Priscilla Luk, who is appointed as a Director, Asian Equity Strategy, and Ritesh Samadhiya, Vice President, Asian Equity Strategy.

"In his new role, Mr Kapur is responsible for building Deutsche Bank's Asian equity strategy capabilities and research product offering. He joins Deutsche Bank from Mirae Asset Securities, where he was Chief Global and Asia Strategist," Deutsche Bank reported. 

Mr Ashton said: "Ajay is one of the best-known and most respected names in the industry, having worked in equity research and strategy on both the buy and sell-sides since 1989. Along with Priscilla and Ritesh, Ajay is ideally-suited to build the region's leading equity strategy franchise."

Prior to Mirae Asset Securities, Mr Kapur was Chief Investment Officer at First Horse Capital, after working as Citigroup's Chief Global Equity Strategist in New York and Chief Asia Equity Strategist in Hong Kong. Prior to this, Mr Kapur was Head of Equity Strategy at Morgan Stanley in Hong Kong. He holds a Master of Public and International Affairs from Princeton University, a Bachelor of Economics from St. Stephen's College, Delhi University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from the Indian Institute of Management. Mr Kapur is also a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Ms Luk joins Deutsche Bank from Mirae Asset Securities, where she covered global and Asian equity strategy. Prior to this, she was an equity strategist at hedge fund, First Horse Capital, and also worked as a global equity strategist and Asian equity strategist at Citigroup. Ms Luk began her career as a quantitative equity analyst at Credit Suisse First Boston. She holds a Bachelor of Science from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, with a major in quantitative finance.

Mr Samadhiya also joins Deutsche Bank from Mirae Asset Securities, where he was an Asian equity strategist. Mr Samadhiya worked as an equity strategist with First Horse Capital and prior to this was part of Citigroup's global equity strategy team. He is a CFA charter holder and has a Bachelor and Master of Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, India.
