Cities hosting the premieres include Los Angeles, London, New York, Berlin, Seoul and Rio de Janeiro, Sony Pictures said, as BBC reported. The movie is based on more than 100 hours of footage from rehearsals for the 50 London shows he had planned to do. Jackson died in June aged 50. Names of the other cities hosting the premiere have not yet been released.

The opening events will feature satellite transmissions of Hollywood stars arriving at the premiere in Los Angeles, according to Reuters. London's premiere will happen after midnight local time on Oct. 28, while Seoul's event is scheduled for the morning of that day.

In all, more than 25 cities worldwide will have premieres for the movie but not all will take place at the same time, the same source informs.

Tickets for all shows, including the Tuesday night special advance screenings, will be available for purchase beginning Sunday, United Press International gives information.

"Michael Jackson has an army of fans everywhere around the world. By rolling out this film with simultaneous premieres and special advance screenings on Oct. 27, we are giving audiences an incredible opportunity to join together in celebration of Michael Jackson's incredible career," Jeff Blake, chairman of worldwide marketing and distribution for Sony Pictures, said in a statement, the same source reported. The film's world gala will be in Los Angeles at the Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE Oct. 27. That event, which begins at 6 p.m. PDT, kicks off a series of more than 25 premieres around the globe.

The $60m (£36.4m) movie deal was made between Jackson's estate and concert promoter AEG Live and Sony Pictures, according to BBC.

Reuters gives information that based on proceeds from the movie, business deals and album sales that have arisen since Jackson's death, administrators of his estate expect to generate more than $200 million in revenue before the end of the year.
