The FINANCIAL interviewed Ms. Kubusidze to find out what the peculiar aspects of this business in Georgia are.

Q. Why do you think Georgian Events was chosen as a favourite brand of 2008?

A. The main reason I think is our method of approaching our clients. Managing an event is more than just organizing and ensuring that plans are well executed. First of all it’s about analyzing the client, the company and its future goals. A more in-depth approach and continuous feedback is very important.

It was quite surprising to become Golden Brand 2008 Award winners. It was very pleasant to find out that we were the most successful company in the events management business.

Over a period of 10 years we have shared the most important moments of life with hundreds of companies and individuals; we have shared victory and happiness, have grown up and developed together with them. Our corporate culture and values have been formed as a result of knowledge and the attitude towards business imparted to us by many experienced people.

Q. How did the event management business start for your company?

A. 11 years ago we got interested in the industry of events. We researched and established the company “Georgian Events”. In reality, the beginning was much more irrational: the ability of our partners and the members of our team to carefully listen to people, to look at things through their eyes, to feel what they feel and to share their dreams was the motivating force for coming up with the idea and defining the content of the company.

We made a pleasant discovery, namely that there exists a young, rapidly growing industry in the west: Meeting Incentives Conventions Events/Exhibitions (MICE) and, that the intuitively created company is very close to the international norms of the industry in terms of its principles.

Q. When and how did you join Georgian Events?

I joined this company 8 years ago. We were about 3 people in the office back then. Enthusiasm motivated me to learn quickly. The first event was a very small one organized for a research company. I had to print the logos and prepare pens for the event. It was my first experience in this business. As time passed I got more acquainted with things and today I’m Executive Director of Georgian Events.

One of the most memorable events was the 10 year anniversary celebration of Georgian Wines & Spirits (GWS). In 2003 we organized the event in the ethnographic museum. We had to put a lot of effort in to making the decorations, logistics and many other aspects of successful planning. There were around 250 people and the whole event lasted several days.

Q. What are the visions and goals of Georgian Events?

A. The vision of our company is that we view Georgian Events as an enterprise which is associated in the industry of events with high standards of quality, creativity and which will be one of the most respectful representatives of the country in the business-world.

Our goal is to strengthen the company, enlarge the scope of services and provide maximum feedback to our customers, partners and personnel. We can achieve this through perseverance, hard work and recruiting gifted individuals.

Our main advantage is our creative, motivated and trustworthy team. Plus we have 17 years of experience in tourism and 9 years of experience in the Meetings, Incentives, Conventions & Exhibitions (MICE) industry. Flexibility and a diversified portfolio is another strength that differentiates us from our competitors. It entails high quality of delegation, the ability to make speedy decisions and product tantamount to any budget from leasing the event inventory to large-scale events.

Q. What are the perspectives of event management in Georgia?

A. The event management market is developing in Georgia. There are many firms and the market is able to handle even more in the future. We have many small firms competing in terms of inventory, suppliers and many others things. But if we consider event planning and management as a whole, there’s no other company in Georgia that can deliver the same service as we do.

Q. What price policy do you have? Do you have fixed prices on products or do you make individual agreements with separate companies?

A. We have fixed price for Event Shop items. As for the Georgian events services, creative proposal and management, the fee is different each time. It depends on the services we are providing and on the total time that the Georgian Events creative team is spending on that event.

Q. What is the average price of one event?

A. Unfortunately it is hard to define the average price for an event. If you order only Event Shop items then the budget will be low. It can be from GEL 500 to GEL 1,000.  The Event budget depends on the client’s demand and our creative proposal.

In 2008 we had about 20 large scale events. Besides this every month we had about 5-7 orders for Event Shop.

Q. What are the prices for items in your Event Shop?

Light Globe - GEL 1,000; Party tent 21mX15m with floor system - GEL 5,000; Pagoda tent 5mX5m - GEL 1,500; Bungy Trampoline 9mX9m - GEL 2,000; Bar set - GEL 800; Asian Lounge - GEL 2,000; Georgian Corner - GEL 1,000; Bio Toilet depending on request - GEL 800; Football set - GEL 400; Car rent one way - GEL 150; Plasma TV - GEL 250; Photographer - GEL 300; Video Operator - GEL 500.

Q. What was the total cost of the equipment that you purchased from the German company?

Georgian Events is a representative of the “Losberger” company from whom we have bought events tents. We had special rates for the equipment but due to the contract with Losberger we are not allowed to disclose them.
