The FINANCIAL -- Eni CEO Paolo Scaroni met in Ashgabat with the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimukhamedov.
The talks focused on Eni's growth prospects in Turkmenistan and the company's contribution to the economic and social development of the country.
"Turkmenistan has huge potential in terms of exploration and production of oil and gas – Paolo Scaroni commented - and will play a key-role in the world energy arena in the near future. Eni, being one of the world's biggest international energy companies, with excellent technical and operational capabilities, will significantly contribute to the economic and social development of Turkmenistan".
Eni started its activities in Turkmenistan in 2008 with the purchase of British company Burren Energy plc. Activities are focused in the western part of the country over an area of 200 square km, which are split into four development areas. In 2008 production averaged 12 kboe/d. Exploration and production activities are regulated by PSA.
