According to Caterer and Hotelkeeper, the club on Berkeley Square has appointed Jake Parkinson-Smith and Carlo Carello to oversee the revamp of the space, which will reopen in September.

Joining as partners, the duo has worked at high-profile London nightclubs, with Parkinson-Smith having previously been involved in the launch of the Stork Rooms in 2001 with Marco Pierre White and Piers Adams, and Boujis in 2002. Carello, meanwhile, worked as head of international development for Ministry of Sound and Hed Kandi, opening clubs in Singapore and Beijing, before leaving to work for Boujis in 2008.

Commenting on their appointment, Abela said: "We refurbished Morton's, have built a stylish new membership and Downstairs at Morton's will further strengthen the very strong Mayfair private members' club that we have created."

Carello added: "We are looking forward to joining one of the most established clubs in the heart of Mayfair, the traditional centre of London's nightlife. We plan to open in September with a fresh new look and some of the best parties the capital will have ever seen."

Abela first acquired Morton's in 2001 and he reopened it in April 2004 after an extensive refurbishment. He closed the club in 2010 for a second refurbishment.
