The FINANCIAL -- The Georgian Vice Premier, Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze paid a visit to Estonia where an informal meeting of the EU Member States and Eastern Partnership countries is held at the initiative of Estonia, the current EU Presidency.  

As part of his visit to Estonia, Mikheil Janelidze held a meeting with Austrian Federal Minister for European and International Affairs Sebastian Kurz. Speaking on the Georgia-Austria relations, the two Ministers noted with satisfaction the successful co-operation in the political, economic and cultural areas, highlighting in this context the importance of opening up Embassy of the Republic of Austria in Georgia. According to Sebastian Kurz, Austrian companies show an increasing level of interest in Georgia, especially in the areas of tourism and energy.

The two ministers paid special attention to Georgia’s European integration issues. Special mention was taken of Austria’s full support for Georgia’s European aspirations and Georgia’s tangible progress in this process. The sides the hope that the eastern Patnership Summit scheduled for November 2017 will give a fresh impulse to the partnership and contribute to the development of result-oriented co-operation.

Discussions focused on the situation in Georgia’s occupied regions and on the OSCE’s role in the peaceful resolution of the Russian-Georgian conflict.
