The FINANCIAL — The President of the Swiss Confederation, H.E. Doris Leuthard paid an official visit to Georgia, on Decmeber 3.
Official reception of President Leuthard has also been attended by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mr. Dimitri Kumsishvili, Head of Administration of the President Mr. Giorgi Abashishvili, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Vakhtang Makharoblishvili, Advisor to the President for Foreign Affairs Mr. Tengiz Pkhaladze, Ambassador of Georgia to the Swiss Confederation Mr. Davit Jalaghania, Parliamentary Secretary of the President Ms. Ana Dolidze, and Director of the European Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ms. Nino Baratashvili.
Following the welcoming ceremony, the President of Georgia, H.E. Giorgi Margvelashvili will meet face-to-face with President Leuthard. The two presidents will also hold a meeting with accompanied delegations. After the meetings, they will make joint media statements.
As part of the official visit, President Leuthard will also meet with the Prime Minister and Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, according to the Administration of the President of Georgia.
According to Mr. Abashishvili, conversation between the two presidents will touch upon Georgia’s occupied territories and relations with Russia, as Switzerland plays a special political role in Georgia-Russia relations.
“The key topics raised at the meetings will be relations between Georgia and Russia, occupation of Georgia and Russia’s aggressive and provocative actions that are constantly carried out against Georgia,” Mr. Abashishvili said.
As for the economic relations, as Mr. Abashishvili pointed out, Switzerland has an exemplary economic model, from which Georgia should learn about how to develop economy, tourism and tourism infrastructure.
