The FINANCIAL -- “In 2017, the trade turnover between Georgia and the EU was increased by over 2% with over 2844 million USD. This figure equals to almost 27% of Georgia’s total turnover,” – the First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitry Kumsishvili stated. The First Vice Prime Minister, within the Georgian Government delegation, participated in the session of the Georgia-EU Association Council.

The First Vice Prime Minister highlighted that Georgia’s export to the EU was increased in 2017 by 13% and amounted to the nominal 647 million USD. The share of the industrial export was also significantly increased, according to Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.

Dimitry Kumsishvili announced that according to the data of the 9 months of 2017, investments from the EU amounted to 441 million USD, which is by 6% higher figure compared to 2016.

“We have these positive outcomes due to the activities of the private sector, the privileges that the Free Trade Agreement with the European Union offers and the business climate that the Georgian Government provides in our country. It should be noted that we are fully implementing all the commitments within the Association Agreement as well as the Free Trade Agreement,” – the First Vice Prime Minister, Dimitry Kumsishvili noted.
