EU launches Anti-Corruption Initiative in Ukraine

The FINANCIAL -- The EU and the Danish Ministry for Foreign Affairs have launched an anti-corruption initiative in Ukraine which aims to strengthen the capacity of the newly created anti-corruption institutions.

The scheme launched on 1 February will enhance transparency in the reform process for the Ukrainian parliament, civil society and the media.

Under the new initiative, the capacity of the newly created anti-corruption institutions to investigate, prosecute and sanction corruption will be boosted. The anti-corruption committee of the Ukrainian parliament will also have greater influence in implementing relevant reforms and fostering the involvement of civil society.

A programme office in Kyiv in charge of the implementation of the initiative officially started work on 1 February and will receive international support, according to EU Neighbours East Info.

The initiative will be implemented over three years with EUR 15 million in support from the EU and EUR 1.34 million from the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
