The FINANCIAL — Since the opening of the exhibition of famous Spanish surrealist Salvador Dali, 786 people visited the Alexandre Chavchavadze House Museum in Tsinandali, Kakheti. 6 sculptures of Salvador Dali and 11 lithographs are on show in the museum. The financial sponsor of this exhibition is Silk Road Group.
The arrival of the Dali masterpieces was not well advertised, neither by the organizers nor by the Georgian media. Some of the people questioned by The FINANCIAL even said that they had no idea whether the Salvador Dali masterpieces were actually in Georgia.
“N Gallery and the Tsinandali Museum started negotiations with the Salvador Dali Foundation together. Georgian audiences will have the opportunity to see Dali’s works over a period of 2 months,” said Tatia Gvineria, one of the organizers of the exhibition.
“Our only financial partner is Silk Road Group, which financed this exhibition. This exhibition will remain in Tsinandali. If the Municipality of Georgia has the desire to hold this exhibition in Tbilisi, then they should it themselves. The Salvador Dali masterpieces are from private collections,” said Maia Kokochashvili, Director of the Museum.
According to Gvineria, Silk Road Group was the only financial supporter of the exhibition. And only VTB Bank helped in the transportation of the Salvador Dali masterpieces from Tbilisi to Tsinandali.
“Silk Travel has offered its consumers the possibility to organise a tour package if any group of people wishes to visit the Salvador Dali exhibition in Tsinandali. Part of the collection came to Georgia from GMI Gallery in Austria and the other sculptures came from a private collector,” said Gvineria.
“The ticket price for entrance to the museum is 3 GEL, ticket price for a student is 4 GEL, and for elderly people the entrance cost is GEL. These masterpieces of Salvador Dali are exhibited in one of the ballrooms of the museum. If a visitor also wishes to taste wine then the ticket price is 7 GEL. There is also a 20 GEL ticket, which includes tasting of 8 sorts of wine when in the museum,” said Manana Batiashvili, Tsinandali Museum.
“Of course this exhibition is not a 100% commercial project. When such a famous painter’s work arrives in Georgia of course interest is very high. There are some groups who constantly return to the museum. Many schools have programmes whereby when any famous artist’s work arrive in Georgia they visit the museum, so in this case they will visit the Salvador Dali exhibition too. We have not specially invited any schools to this exhibition,” said Gvineria.
The exhibition will last for two months and during this time visitors will be able to see the works by the world-known artist.
