Recognising and rewarding your employees’ work can have a big impact on the success of your business. Studies have shown that employees who feel valued by their employers tend to be more productive and are more likely to stay at their jobs than employees whose work isn’t recognised.

As well as rewarding employees, encouraging a healthy lifestyle that improves their physical and mental wellbeing is another great way to increase engagement levels. With that in mind, consider offering rewards that encourage your employees to eat and drink healthily and exercise more. These rewards can take the form of gym memberships or vouchers for healthy food and drink.

Time off

Another way to simultaneously reward employees and look after their wellbeing, giving an employee extended time off is a great way of making them feel valued and ensuring they don’t get burned out from stress.

Implement a rewards programme

Rewards programmes are becoming an increasingly popular way of rewarding employees. These programmes typically use gamification techniques- these are usually points that are earned and can then be spent on several different rewards, such as time off or vouchers.

Peer recognition

As well as a rewards programme, implementing a peer recognition programme allows your staff to recognise each other’s contributions and express gratitude to each other. This is a great way of making your workers feel valued and can also help build strong relationships among the workforces.

Company outing

Taking your team on a company outing can be hugely beneficial for several reasons. These outings can provide a memorable experience for your employees and will make them feel valued, but it’s also a good chance to get your employees to socialise with each other, allowing them to foster long-lasting relationships with each other.

Online classes

Offering online classes is a great way to simultaneously reward employees and encourage them to learn new skills. Offering development opportunities will help your employees feel more engaged and fulfilled, and they can then use these skills in their work, offering a boost in your business’s productivity levels.

Thank you cards

While bigger rewards can help improve morale, simply taking the time out to personally thank your employees for their hard work can have a big impact on their morale and engagement. This can take the form of a handwritten thank you card, an effective way to show your staff that you recognise all that they’re doing.

Work anniversary celebrations

Employee retention is a key part of any business- businesses that keep their employees for longer often have significantly higher productivity levels. If a worker reaches an important milestone, take the time out to throw a celebration of all their years of hard work.

Consistently rewarding your employees is essential to making them feel valued and fostering a feel-good workplace. Implementing reward programmes gives workers something to work towards, but even a simple thank you can make a huge difference to a worker’s morale.
