The FINANCIAL — Within the framework of the Diaspora Forum, an official ceremony of granting the name of Leuville to the Mtkvari left bank was held in Tbilisi, on 28 May 2017.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Georgian diaspora, including descendants of the members of the government of the First Democratic Republic of Georgia who arrived in Georgia specifically to attend the Diaspora Forum.
Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze, Tbilisi Mayor Davit Narmania, Leuville Vice Mayor Daniel Esprin, acting Ambassador of France to Georgia Natasha Efimova and a member of the Leuville governing board Iren Tsitsishvili spoke before the guests attending the ceremony, according to MFA of Georgia.
In his speech, the Georgian Foreign Minister highlighted the importance of the Leuville Estate describing it as a symbol of the Georgian statehood and Diaspora. According to him, Leuville Estate will serve to popularize Georgian culture and Georgia itself not only in France but also throughout Europe.
Mikheil Janelidze thanked the Tbilisi City Council and Sakrebulo for supporting the initiative.
According to Tbilisi Mayor Davit Narmania, a symbolic monument will be erected on the Mtkvari left bank named after Leuville.
