The FINANCIAL — Accenture has implemented new back-office applications and business management systems for Salt River Project (SRP), one of the largest U.S. public power utilities. The systems implementation is part of the largest enterprise resource planning (ERP) system overhaul in the utility company’s history, according to Accenture.
To make operations more efficient and enable the utility to be more nimble in an era of volatility and persistent change, SRP worked with Accenture to update and consolidate more than 150 outdated finance and supply chain procurement applications and integrate more than 20 disparate systems that support and manage a range of SRP business functions. These functions include: financial accounting, accounts payable, budgeting and planning, procurement of goods and services and work management of field crews and power plant operations.
The consolidation of these disparate sources of data will enable access to reliable business intelligence that should help SRP improve reporting, increase efficiencies, support strategic planning and drive collaboration across the company, according to Accenture.
“This finance and supply chain transformation program will help us become a much more agile and adaptable organization in the face of an ever-changing business environment, so that we can deliver better value to our customers and stakeholders,” said Aidan McSheffrey, SRP’s associate general manager and chief finance executive. “We chose Accenture because of its experience and delivery track record with complex IT, business process and change management transformation programs,” he added.
SRP used Accenture’s Application Development Methodology (ADM) to help quick start the ERP Blueprinting process. Accenture and SRP designed, built, tested and deployed a suite of applications, including SAP software solutions for ERP, supplier relationship management, business intelligence and governance, risk and compliance. In addition, Accenture integrated the ERP solution with SRP’s existing Maximo work and asset management applications.
"A flexible and integrated operation with analytic capabilities will enable SRP to more rapidly make informed decisions that better position the company for future growth in today’s dynamic business environment. We are proud to have successfully delivered the first phase of this transformation and look forward to continuing to support SRP on this journey,” Dan Hahn, Utilities industry group managing director, Accenture, said.
Under the terms of the multi-year systems integration and technology consulting agreement, Accenture will continue to work with SRP on the next phases of their ERP program, according to Accenture.
