According to the report, Accenture continues to be recognized as a leading player in the utilities sector, with solid thought leadership and a clear vision of global trends and regional priorities, innovation, and delivery capabilities. Its strengths include a truly global delivery capacity and a long history of operating in the industry, its New Energy Consumer research program and a leading alliance ecosystem. Accenture is also recognized for its ability to strategically partner with clients for the long-term. According to the IDC MarketScape, Accenture’s solutions and business services are very well aligned with the future needs of the industry.

As part of this study, IDC Energy Insights assessed the capabilities and strategies of international services vendors serving the specific needs of customer operations for energy retailers and utility companies, including electricity, gas, water, and district heating and cooling providers. Services in scope included business consulting, IT consulting, systems integration, application development, IT outsourcing, business process outsourcing, IT support and IT education and training, Accenture said.
