The FINANCIAL — According to preliminary data for 2018, at the end of the first quarter the number of bovine animals down by 5.0 percent compared to the first quarter of 2017 and amounted to 984.1 thousands.
The number of dairy cows and buffaloes decreased by 6.0 percent from the same period of the previous year and equaled 473.2 thousands, according to GeoStat.
The total number of sheep and goats increased by 3.2 percent year-on-year reaching 1.3 million. The number of pigs increased by 10.2 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 177.2 thousands.
The number of poultry increased by 2.4 percent from the same period of the previous year reaching 8.4 million.
According to preliminary data, in Q1 2018 milk production decreased by 1.4 percent compared to the same period of the previous year reaching 98.3 million litres.
Meat production increased by 9.5 percent from the same period of the previous year and stood at 15.0 thousand tons.
In Q1 2018 egg production increased by 10.2 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 161.7 million.
