The FINANCIAL — According to AIR FRANCE, in August 2008 traffic rose 2.8% with capacity up 4.7%. The load factor stood at 83.7%, down 1.6 points. Air France-KLM saw good progress in both yield and unit revenues excluding currency impact. The group carried 6.8 million passengers (+1.0%).
On the Americas network traffic was up 6.6% and capacity by 6.5%. The load factor remained stable at the high level of 87.2%.
The Asia network recorded a 2.4% rise in traffic with capacity up by 7.1%. The load factor declined by 4.0 points, but remained high at 85.8%.
On the Africa and Middle East network traffic increased by 0.9% with capacity up by 1.9%. The load factor declined by 0.8 points but remained high at 86.7%.
The Caribbean and Indian Ocean network saw traffic decline by 2.6% with capacity up by 4.1%. The load factor stood at 82.0% (-5.6 points).
On the European network traffic rose 0.9% with a 1.8% rise in capacity. The load factor declined by 0.7 points to 75.0%.
Cargo
In August 2008 cargo traffic fell by 4.0% with capacity up by 0.6%. The decline in traffic was mainly linked to flows between Europe and Asia, notably the impact of the Olympic Games on China. The load factor was down 2.9 points to 60.7%. However, as in previous months, unit revenues per transported ton kilometer rose strongly.
