Passenger business
October 2008 traffic data benefited from a favorable comparison basis relative to October 2007 which was impacted by the strike at Air France from the 25th to the 29th. Traffic rose 9.0% with capacity up by 8.0%. The load factor for the month stood at 81.3% (+0.7 points). Excluding the impact of the strike, the rise in traffic would have been in the region of 3.6%. The group recorded a rise in unit revenues excluding currency impact. Air France-KLM carried 6.6 million passengers (+5.7%).
On the Americas network, traffic rose 10.9% with capacity up by 10.0%. The load factor gained 0.7 points to 85.4%.
The Asia network saw traffic up by 7.1% with capacity up by 8.9%. The load factor stood at 86.9%, down 1.5 points.
On the Africa and Middle East network, traffic rose 11.8% with capacity up 5.9%. The load factor rose 4.3 points to 81.5%.
The Caribbean and Indian Ocean network recorded traffic growth of 12.4% with capacity up by 8.8%. The load factor stood at 78.6% (+2.5 points).
On the European network, traffic increased by 4.9% with capacity up by 5.4%. The load factor was almost stable at 70.9% (-0.3 points).
Cargo business
Cargo traffic fell 4.4% in October 2008 with capacity up by 2.1%. The load factor fell 4.5 points to 65.5%.
