The FINANCIAl — President of the Azerbaijani Republic Ilham Aliyev’s instructions given at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on the results of the country’s socio-economic development in the first half of 2015 and the objectives for the future regarding to “artificial increase in the price of tickets in some cases” were seriously discussed at the Board meeting of CJSC Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) on July 16, 2015.
At the meeting, held jointly with the State Civil Aviation Administration, Chairman of the Board, Jahangir Asgarov instructed all members of the board to deeply analyze the tariffs of each air line, to explore the ways to reduce the cost of tickets, to develop new mechanisms to regulate the terms of applying benefits and tariffs, according to Azerbaijan Airlines.
By stressing the importance of increasing flow of foreign tourists to Azerbaijan, the chairman said that the work has already started in this direction, and CJSC Azerbaijan Airlines will arrange private flights on tourist routes at low rates as soon as possible. Moreover, Jahangir Asgarov informed the participants that some proposals on a certain number of tickets sale at low prices on existing flights have been already prepared and these rates will be applied in the coming days.
At the same time, the meeting participants were informed that all these measures should be implemented on condition that high level of flight safety and quality of services are maintained. Asgarov said that currently established working group, which consists of specialists of AZAL and the Ministry of Economy and Industry, prepare proposals and recommendations on the cost of air tickets.
Board members decided to re-examine the prices based on the analysis of rates, to prepare and submit proposals to the government on the mechanism of their optimization.
