The FINANCIAL — In October, airberlin was able to slightly increase capacity utilization (RPK/ASK) by 0.2 percent to 84.2 percent in yearly comparison, while, at the same time, reducing capacity. Overall, airberlin recorded a performance improvement over the previous year’s figures throughout its entire flight route network.
In October, Germany’s second-largest airline company transported a total of 2,867,662 passengers worldwide. In conjunction with the 7.4 percent capacity reduction in October, the number of passengers decreased by 6.2 percent as compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, according to airberlin.
The number of passenger kilometers traveled within airberlin’s global flight route network decreased by 6.9 percent to 4.301 billion kilometers (RPK). The available seat kilometers (ASK) declined by 7.2 percent to 5.109 billion kilometers.
For the period from January up to and including October 2015, air berlin’s capacity utilization rate increased by 0.6 percentage points in yearly comparison to a total of 84.7 percent, thus confirming the positive development of the capacity utilization figures. The accumulated number of passengers for the year decreased by 4.5 percent to a total of 26,637,231 passengers in yearly comparison.
