The FINANCIAL — airberlin increased its load factor in October by a significant 2.1 percentage points, to 86.3 per cent, compared to the same month last year, in spite of the downward trend in tourism and a strategic capacity reduction of 5.5 per cent. Â
Germany’s second-largest airline also recorded a 0.3 percentage points load factor increase to 85.0 per cent.
Revenue passenger kilometres (RPK) for the second consecutive month rose – a strong 2.2 per cent increase in October compared to the previous year – and airberlin’s passengers travelled approximately 4.397 billion kilometres throughout its global flight route network, according to airberlin.
In the course of a continued capacity consolidation programme, the number of passengers who travelled on airberlin decreased by 4.1 per cent, to 2,748,824.
The number of available seat kilometres (ASK) in October decreased slightly by 0.2 per cent to 5.097 billion.
