The FINANCIAL — In August, airberlin recorded a capacity utilization decrease of 2.0 percentage points, to 88.9 percent, in a challenging market environment.
Capacity was reduced by three percent. In contrast, when comparing the accumulated figures, the capacity utilization rate remained stable at 84.4 percent (-0.1 percentage points).
Due to the capacity reduction, the world-wide number of passengers traveling on Germany’s second-largest airline company decreased by 5.6 percent, to 3,140,879 passengers, according to airberlin.
In August, passengers travelled approximately 5.001 billion kilometres (RPK) within airberlin’s flight route network. The passenger volume development indicates that the number of kilometres travelled by airberlin’s passengers decreased only slightly, i.e. by 3.3 percent, in yearly comparison. The number of available seat kilometres (ASK) decreased by 1.2 percent, to 5.624 billion kilometres, in yearly comparison.
