The FINANCIAL — Alitalia will start to increase from May 1 the number of flights it operates from France to Italy by ten per cent with extra services from Marseille, Nice and Montpellier to Rome.
The rise will lead to 122 weekly flights being operated by the airline from six French airports to its hub base at Fiumicino Airport in the Italian capital city. French travellers will benefit from easier transfers in Rome to 26 airports throughout Italy and 64 destinations in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the Americas, including Alitalia’s new long haul destinations Santiago, which starts on May 1, and Mexico City which begins on June 16, according to Alitalia.
Alitalia will double its flight frequencies from Marseille to Rome from May 1 with a new afternoon service which will depart from the French city at 5.40 pm and arrive in Italy at 7.05 pm (all days, except Tuesday). The inbound flight will land in Marseille at 4.50 pm having left Rome at 3.25 pm.
A third daily flight from Nice to Rome will start in June departing at 7.40 am and arriving at 8.50 am (all days, except Saturday). The inbound service will land in Nice at 11.00 pm following a 9.50 pm departure from Rome (all days, except Friday).
Alitalia will from May 1 also operate a third weekly flight from Montpellier to Rome to add new flight on Thursday to its current services on Tuesday and Sunday.
All of the new frequencies from France to Rome will be served by two class – business and economy – Airbus A319 aircraft.
The new Alitalia flights from France to Italy will complement its French programme of 42 flights a week from Paris to Rome and 37 to Milan. Alitalia and its SkyTeam partner Air France will operate a total of 380 weekly frequencies between France and Italy.
