The FINANCIAL — According to RIA Novosti, state-controlled natural giant Gazprom is considered the most desirable workplace by Russians, ahead of the country's main crude producers and the electricity monopoly, according to an opinion poll.
A survey by the Russian Public Opinion Research Center found that 44% of Russians would like to work for Gazprom, and some 38% considered it the country's best employer.
State-controlled oil giant Rosneft and Russia's largest independent crude producer LUKoil came equal second in the poll, with 23% of votes each, and only 15% of respondents said they would want to work for electricity monopoly Unified Energy System.
Respondents said the country's two largest banks, Sberbank and VTB, both state-controlled, offered the best career opportunities in the banking sector (22% and 13%, respectively).
Russia's insurance companies and food producers, as well as steelmaker Evraz Holding and aluminum giant RusAL are the least popular major companies among Russian citizens, according to the survey.
The statistical margin of error of the poll conducted on November 24-25 was not more than 3.4%. The pollster questioned 1600 people in 46 regions.
