The FINANCIAL — As of June 1, 2015, Ukraine planted spring crops throughout the areas of 16.758 mln ha, down 6.4% compared with the last year index on the same date, declared the State Statistics Service of Ukraine on June 12, according to APK Inform.
In particular, agrarians planted grains and pulses (excluding corn) throughout 2.619 mln ha (90% of the level in 2014), including barley – 1.705 mln ha (88.3% from the previous year). The corn areas reached 4.005 mln ha (86.5%).
In addition, agrarians planted sunflower seed throughout 4.708 mln ha, soybeans – 2.02 mln ha, and spring rapeseed – 18.4 thsd ha.
According to the State Statistics Service, the losses of winter crops in the winter-spring period totaled 4.9% of the autumn planted areas, including winter grains – 2.5% (in 2014, 4.2% and 3.6%, respectively).
