The FINANCIAL — As of November 26, 2010, Ukraine harvested grains and leguminous plants (with maize) throughout the areas of 14.6 mln ha (99.4% from the forecast), and produced 41.4 mln tonnes of grains in bunker weight with the average yield of 28.4 c/ha (last year – 31.1 c/ha), declared the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine.
According to the announcement, agrarians harvested maize grain throughout the areas of 2.6 mln ha (98% from the forecast), and produced nearly 12 mln ha of grains with the average yield of 45.9 c/ha (50.6 c/ha in 2009).
Ukrainian agrarians harvested 7.15 mln tonnes of sunflower seed throughout the areas of 4.4 mln ha (100% of the forecast), with the average yield of 16.1 c/ha (15.8 c/ha last year).
Ukraine harvested soybean throughout the areas of 1.03 mln ha (99.5% from the forecast), an increase of 420 thsd ha compared to the previous year. As of the reporting date, agrarians produced 1.7 mln tonnes of the oilseed with the average yield of 16.1 c/ha (16.3 c/ha last year).
As a reminder, according to the clarified data from regions, as of November 15, 2010, all categories of agricultural enterprises in Ukraine produced grains and leguminous plants in clean weight at the level of 39.6 mln tonnes, including 17.2 mln tonnes of wheat, 8.7 mln tonnes of barley, 496 thsd tonnes of rye, 489 thsd tonnes of oats, 477 thsd tonnes of peas, 11.6 mln tonnes of maize, 148 thsd tonnes of buckwheat, 118 thsd tonnes of millet.
According to operative data from regions, as of November 26, all categories of agricultural enterprises in Ukraine sowed winter grains throughout 8.3 mln ha.
According to the press-cutting service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, as of the reporting date, agrarians sowed winter wheat throughout the areas of 6.65 mln ha, rye – 323 thsd ha, barley – 1.22 mln ha.
The current year winter grain sowing areas exceed the average annual results during the recent 6 years by 10-12%.
The structure of grain sowing areas for the harvest-2011 will be corrected depending on the real winter crops sowings and wintering conditions, at the expense of optimization of spring grain sowing areas, in particular, such as widening of the sowing areas, especially maize grain and late groats sowing areas.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy also marked that during last 5 years, grain sowing areas became stabilized within the range of 15.15.5 mln ha, or 55-57% of the general structure of sowing areas, which completely corresponds to the scientifically grounded recommendations, including nearly 8 mln ha of winter grains sowing areas, and 7-7.5 mln ha of spring grains sowings.
