The FINANCIAL — Aston University has been named as the ninth best university in the UK for attracting top international talent in one of the most well-respected rankings tables in the world.
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings has placed Aston in the global top 30 universities for ‘international outlook’ – meaning a university’s proven ability to attract students and respected academics from across the globe and its track record of publishing research in collaboration with universities abroad.
This ranking places Aston in the top 30 universities worldwide for international outlook, higher than all other Midlands universities and University of Cambridge, and represents a sizable step towards Aston’s ambition of being the best for business and the professions, according to Aston University.
Vice Chancellor Professor Alec Cameron said: ‘This is the first major rankings table to be published since I took over as Vice Chancellor and it confirms that Aston has a growing global reputation. Being in the UK top ten for attracting academic talent from around the world and for publishing collaborative research with international partners is a sure sign of a university that is global in outlook and focussed on the emerging requirements of business and society both in the UK and beyond.’
The THE World University Rankings are the only global performance tables that judges universities across all their core missions: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook. They use 13 carefully calibrated performance indicators to provide the most comprehensive and balanced comparisons, trusted by students, academics, university leaders, industry and governments.
The accolade is one of several achieved by Aston this year, including an exceptional five star rating by the QS Intelligence Unit and being placed second best in the UK for teaching quality in a THE analysis of the Government’s Teaching Excellence Framework.
