The FINANCIAL — Aston University has smashed its own personal best in the highly respected QS World University Subject Rankings, with seven subjects featuring amongst the world’s best institutions.
For the first time electrical engineering, pharmacy and physics have been featured in the rankings, which judge subjects across the world based on academic and employer reputation surveys and the number of citations per faculty, according to Aston University.
In addition, two overarching subject areas were featured including for the first time arts and humanities as well as social sciences and management.
Out of the seven subjects that were recognised, five ranked in the top 250 out of all universities worldwide.
4,438 universities were evaluated to compile these rankings, of which less than a quarter were ranked by QS Intelligence.
Professor Helen Higson, Provost and Deputy Vice Chancellor at Aston University, said: “This is a great achievement for the university and firmly places Aston amongst the elite institutions of the world. Last year matched our best ever year for having five ranked subjects in the QS World University Subject Rankings, so to break this record shows we are moving in the right direction.”
