The FINANCIAL — ProCredit Bank hosted the Georgian Calligraphy Contest awards ceremony at its head office on 18 March, at noon.
The contest, held for the fourth time on 6 November 2013, consisted of three stages. The contest winners were named on 18 March. In addition to the calligraphy of the prize-winners, works of other distinguished contestants were exhibited at ProCredit Bank’s head office.
Georgian calligraphy has a centuries-long tradition. Manuscripts were considered to be a cultural and national treasure even in early history. Over the centuries, Georgian books have been created in centres of Georgian manuscript culture in Georgia and abroad.
Today, calligraphy is highly valued as an art form all over the world. The contest therefore aims to showcase and renew public interest in the beauty of Georgian calligraphy and manuscripts.
In its 15 years of operation, ProCredit Bank has always been very active in supporting cultural projects. “I am pleased that ProCredit Bank’s head office is host to such an interesting and important event. Georgian manuscripts have a centuries-long history. That is why all of us should do our best to continue and preserve this tradition for future generations,” said Director of ProCredit Bank Ketevan Burduli.
