The FINANCIAL — Prime Minister Mykola Azarov praises the Tax Code endorsed by the Verkhovna Rada last week as the most liberal one in Europe.
Prime Minister Azarov gave his assessment of the tax code during the Ukraine – Belgium business forum.
"We can state with certainty that this is the most liberal tax code in Europe," said the prime minister.
He said the government abolished ineffective taxes during the work on the tax code. The government also trimmed tax rates and provided preferences to a number of industries to facilitate their development.
The prime minister said the government is not inclined to dramatize the protest rallies against the tax code, since Ukraine is a democratic state and citizens have every right to have their say on different matters.
"We know that complaints from some entrepreneurs working under the so-called 'simplified taxation' have some grounds. We are ready to have a constructive dialogue. I think we will settle absolutely all questions in the near future. We will maintain work and the dialogue to find solutions. At the same time, we won't allow anyone destroying the stability which was achieved so hard in the country," said Prime Minister Mykola Azarov.
He said the country develops in stability and nobody will manage to break this stability.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine endorsed the Tax Code on November 18. The Verkhovna Rada endorsed amendments to the Tax Code on November 19.
Thousands of entrepreneurs protested against the Tax Code in Kyiv and in a number of regional administrative centers of Ukraine.
