The FINANCIAL — Prime Minister Mykola Azarov says arrangements made with developers about fixation of average prices of housing at UAH 8,000 a square metre and of social housing at UAH 4,000 a square metre in Kyiv, he has told journalists next to a conference on promotion of construction in Kyiv.
"We have reached agreement, the per-square metre price in Kyiv must be approximately eight thousand hryvnias on average for housing," Azarov said.
He added, social housing will cost UAH 4,000 a square metre on average.
"Prices will never be lower. These are the prices, we have outlined today, these prices at the minimum level of profitability for builders, so those who want to buy a flat should make time already now," Azarov said.
The prime minister noted, they had reached agreement with the builders that the prices of housing in Kyiv will be the lowest in the country.
"In order that Kyiv be a reference for the country," he explained.
In Azarov's words, Oleksandr Popov, the chairman of Kyiv municipal state administration, came forward with an initiative of the programme for affordable housing.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the average price of residential property rose 0.1% or UAH 8.6 to UAH 15,817.4 a square metre in the primary real estate market in Kyiv in December 2010 against November.
Kyiv municipal state administration predicts construction of 2,906 flats in 2011 under the Affordable Housing programme.
The Cabinet of Ministers in July approved the ceiling price for selling housing with high degree of completion after it is accomplished at 7,990 a square metre.
