The FINANCIAL — B20 Azerbaijan Regional Consultation Forum was held in Baku on May 12 in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy and Industry of Azerbaijan and SOCAR.
High representatives of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey, National Confederation of Entrepreneurs Organizations of Azerbaijan, Economic Cooperation Organization, Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization Business Council, UNDP Regional Center, CIS Financial and Banking Council, Chambers of Trade and Industry of Bulgaria, Greece and Romania, International Congress of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, Employers Association of Georgia, as well as relevant government organizations, more than 140 companies and educational organizations participated at the Forum, according to SOCAR.
In their opening speeches, Mammad Musayev, Chairman of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs Organizations of Azerbaijan, Mammad Zulfugarov, Secretary General of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization Business Council, Abzal Saparbekulu, Under Secretary General of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking States, Vasile Tarlev, Chairman of the International Congress of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Council emphasized the importance of the Forum and expressed gratitude to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev for opportunities to organize this meeting.
Speaking about the large-scale oil and gas projects implemented within the energy strategy of Azerbaijan, SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev said Azerbaijan ensured its energy security and was also contributing to the energy security for neighbor countries and making serious steps toward enhancing energy security of the European countries. SOCAR President said the Forum would create opportunities to search prospects for cooperation and B20 dialogue process would be in good progress under chairmanship of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey serving as a stage for serious discussion of important business issues and global problems.
Ali Babacan, Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey, Shahin Mustafayev, Minister of Economy and Industry of Azerbaijan, Rifat Hisarciklioglu, President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey, Ziyad Samadzadeh, Chairman of the Economic Policy Committee of Azerbaijan Parliament spoke about the B20 role in bringing problems of socio-economic development up to the G20 agenda. SOCAR and the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey signed an agreement on strategic cooperation within the Forum framework.
