The FINANCIAL — Fourth Ministerial Meeting of Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council in Baku, which was attended by the First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Dimitry Kumsishvili, was summarized by signing of the Joint Declaration.
By signing the Declaration, the Ministerial confirmed the readiness to continue the development of the Southern Gas Corridor, which envisages such important aspects as environmental protection, reduction of greenhouse gases, diversification of energy sources, increasing European energy security, etc.
Participants once again confirmed the political support for the second phase of the second phase of the Shah-Deniz project, which, according to Dimitry Kumsishvili, is especially important for Georgia’s economic development and energy security, according to Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
The Declaration reflected that the participants of the Ministerial highlighted the exceptional contribution of Georgia, Azerbaijan and Turkey in the implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor project as well as its significance to the European Union and the Energy Community member states, including the Balkan countries and Georgia, which became the member of the Energy Community in 2016.
The participant also stressed the importance of the deepening of the strategic relations and the necessity of the regional cooperation along the length of the entire corridor, underlined the progress achieved in this direction and once again confirmed that the project will be accomplished within the scheduled deadline and Europe will receive additional gas from Azerbaijan in 2020.
