The FINANCIAL — As a result of an amendment to the law that Czech parliament ratified in June, owners of data boxes will now be able to administer their bank accounts through them.
At present, it is possible to use data boxes to hand in tax statements and communicate with public administration offices.
The data box project is a digital archive meant for delivering and carrying out certain acts with respect to public administration offices and also for delivering documents to private persons. The data boxes can be used to communicate with state organs, autonomous regional administration bureaus, health insurance agencies, public notaries or court executioners.
According to the amendment, a new archive is to be created that will offer a list of all available information and services accessible through the data boxes with the possibility to log in to the boxes either by SMS confirmation code to mobile phones or by use of a one-time safety key generated by special software.
The amendment provides for the creation of Czech Points, national verification terminals meant to reduce the amount of bureaucracy when dealing with state organs, in bank branch offices, giving access to data boxes through internet banking. According to the Interior ministry, it is a significant innovation. Banks, however, do not seem to be keen on the new provisions, stating they would rather analyse the possibilities offered by the data boxes then decide whether data box serves fit into their policy.
