The FINANCIAL — Barclays announced further recruitment to its Corporate & Employer Solutions business as it continues to build its capabilities to meet the employee benefit, corporate protection and rewards and incentive needs of its entrepreneur, SME and larger corporate clients.
The Corporate Wealth Advisory team within Barclays C&ES has announced the addition of James Wood and Liam Fearon. As Corporate Wealth Advisors, James and Liam will focus on advising entrepreneurs, SMEs, and smaller corporate clients on a range of corporate solutions to meet their business continuity and succession planning needs.
Reflecting on the expansion of the team, Richard Phelps, Head of Barclays Corporate & Employer Solutions said: “The Corporate Wealth Advisory unit was launched earlier this year to support entrepreneurs and SMEs to manage the risks relating to the people aspect of their businesses, whether that be through loan protection, key man insurance or shareholder protection. Our experience tells us that business owners often ignore these risks and yet it can be these issues that have a negative impact on a firm’s growth.
“I’m delighted that James and Liam have joined this part of C&ES and I am confident they will be a success here at Barclays. Bringing talented and experienced individuals on board is crucial to support the continued growth of the Corporate Wealth Advisory team as we build our capabilities and expand our offering. This additional recruitment underlines our commitment to the entrepreneur and SME sector.”
James Wood is based in Ipswich and joins from HSBC Bank Plc where he has worked as a commercial financial planning adviser since 2008. Liam Fearon joins from RBS where he worked since 2007, specialising in corporate financial planning and is based in Birmingham.
The Corporate Wealth Advisory team is headed by Grant Hughes and the arrival of James and Liam and follows the Corporate Advisor appointments announced earlier this year of Stephen White, Shaz Hussain, Anthony Whittington and Sam Lloyd.
As Barclays reported, in June of this year, Barclays C&ES announced a significant boost to its range of solutions by agreeing to partner with AEGON – one of the UK’s market leaders for business protection – in order to deliver corporate protection solutions to its entrepreneurial and small and medium sized business clients with an enhanced offering. Whilst Barclays C&ES offers advice and services from the whole of the market, the special arrangement with AEGON offers clients a unique proposition supported by an efficient and streamlined service.
